The engineering backbone: cloud, automation and reliable delivery.

This faculty builds the technical foundations that every other faculty depends on. Students learn core computing and networking concepts, then cloud architecture and containerised delivery, then advanced platform work: infrastructure as code, continuous delivery, observability, cost control and reliability engineering.

Curriculum pathway

Three levels, each with its own aim, entry expectations and assessed outcomes.

Level 1 — Computing & Cloud Foundations

Typically 8 weeks

Understand systems, networks and core cloud services.

Assessed outcomes

Explain compute, storage and networking basics
Deploy a simple cloud workload
Apply least-privilege access

Core cloud concepts across AWS, Azure and Google Cloud, from compute to architecture design.

Level 2 — Cloud-Native Engineering

Typically 9 weeks

Design and deliver containerised, automated cloud services.

Containerise and deploy an application
Design a resilient cloud architecture
Automate delivery with pipelines

Entry expectations

Completion of Level 1 or technical experience.

CI/CD pipelines, containers with Docker and Kubernetes, and Infrastructure as Code with Terraform.

Implement infrastructure as code end to end
Instrument observability and service objectives
